CONTACT Crisis Line works to save lives and prevent tragedies. We can provide immediate assistance to those facing life crises, trauma and suicide and provide emergency aid, education and resources to help them regain control of their lives.

CONTACT Crisis Line is a free and confidential service available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Crisis Help Line

The 24-hour, 7-day-a-week Susan and Ben Odom Call Center is the heart of CONTACT Crisis Line. The Call Center is staffed by compassionate volunteers, called crisis line specialists, who have each completed a certified training course, supplemented with continuing education and re-certification courses throughout the year. These crisis line specialists listen to, give referrals to and empower callers who:

  • Are considering suicide
  • Are victims of domestic violence or sexual abuse
  • Are struggling with drug or alcohol dependency
  • Have lost a job and are encountering financial problems
  • Need an empathic listener because they are lonely or discouraged and have no one else in their lives.

All calls are confidential and services are free. For more information about the basic training class or to learn more about the volunteer opportunity, click here.

Information and Referral

When further information is needed, our crisis line specialists provide callers with up-to-date information and referrals to other community agencies that can help. These include direct referrals to shelters, alcohol and drug abuse programs, employment assistance programs, legal aid services and mental health professionals.
