Teens
Teen CONTACT is a program dedicated to teens by providing telephone crisis prevention services to teens in the Dallas area. In addition, Teen CONTACT has a number of outreach programs designed to bring education and information about current issues into classrooms and youth centers around the metroplex. Teen CONTACT also serves as a resource center for educators, counselors, youth group leaders and parents by providing links to other agencies regarding teen issues. All presentations are available in both English and Spanish.
Teen CONTACT's services include:
- Two dedicated phone lines staffed by specially trained volunteers 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, to deal with crisis prevention. Help Line Number: 972-233-TEEN.
- Gatekeeper Training Program designed to establish a network of adults and youth in the community who can recognize and respond to persons exhibiting signs of crisis and suicide risk and who can assist in obtaining professional help.
- Specially designed presentations for schools dealing with issues such as diversity, leadership, communication, bullying/mean girls, rebuking, anger, health relationships, teen dating violence and drugs and alcohol.
- Small groups and special "Girl TALK" and "Guy TALK" groups that enable smaller groups of students in high risk schools to meet weekly and discuss issues, providing group members with tools and information to support and empower them.
- Teen Board, made up of high school students, who work to increase awareness of problems experienced by teens in both school and communities through leadership and
- volunteer service to others.
- Links and resources to other sources of information regarding teens.
